I am one of the hundreds of thousands of people in the US with Ulcerative Colitis. I’m an otherwise healthy 26 year old female. I work for a consulting firm, I practice and teach yoga. I was diagnosed with UC at age 25 after a lifetime track record of no GI issues. The nature of this disease tends to keep oral discussion to a minimum and I, like many, played it down to the best of my abilities. In September of 2011, I was confronted with a very serious flare that landed me in the hospital for 30 days. I could no longer pretend that my UC didn’t exist; for the first time I was forced to talk about it. With everyone. And there is still much to talk about. The premise of this blog is simple: it is a collection of my thoughts and experiences related to my life and this disease.
